Goog Master prepares for Taipei junket

Well folks only a couple more days before I head out to Hong Kong then onto Taipei for MAX Taiwan. I submitted my quirky bio and a lousy photograph so I've no idea what folks over that way are going to think. Still if they want to hear about ColdFusion clustering they'll hear plenty.

I use to be a regular HK visitor in the 80's -- I had an old girlfriend in that port. Looking back I can't seem to remember much about Hong Kong at all; clearly I was preoccupied. Useful tips on interesting places to hang out much appreciated.

Taipei.. hmm not heard great things about Taipei but the people I spoke to hadn't been there since the 70's. Funnily enough I can't find a Lonely Planet book on Taiwan in the bookstore and my favourite worldguide is a little sparse on content for this region. Any thoughts on where to go?

UPDATE: Snake Alley

"The tourists have moved in and the prices have gone up but it's still worth visiting the Huahsi Night Market to see snake handlers playing with live cobras, to sample snake soup or a cup of snake bile, or to pick up an aphrodisiac made from powdered cobra's gall bladder."

Sounds like just the place to take the Duchess of Fife.
