ColdFusion Powers the Olympics

One week in and the Winter Olympics website is running very smoothly. For the current Olympic Quad, Daemon are building all Australian Olympic Team sites on Adobe ColdFusion and FarCry CMS. Vancouver 2010's been a challenge but its great to see it all humming away in the middle of the Winter Games.

One of the really cool things about the site is the focus on Australian Athletes. While you can see scheduling and results across the whole games, every opportunity is used to focus on the Aussie champions. For example, every schedule highlights when an Aussie is competing, and every news item or sport links to the related athlete profile.

Under the hood we have a cluster of two machines running Adobe ColdFusion 8 Standard on Windows 2003, with a separate MS SQL box. FarCry CMS 6.0 and its awesome dynamic caching model are driving all the content, including hook-ups with remote schedules and results feeds.

By the way, if you want a fast and furious overview of the newly minted FarCry 6.0 be sure to join us on tomorrow's CFMeetup:
